Insurance – no claims discount – ripoff

Recently, I change my car, and had to change my insurance company since my previous car had a few additional benefits (full off road protection).

The problem is NCD (no claims discount), different insurers have different maximum NCD, therefore you can lose NCD when you reach your current providers NCD maximum entitlement.

For example, you have moved insurance with 6 years NCD, the new insurance company has a maximum of 7 years, you stay with this company for 3 years with no claims. You now what to change insurance companies, you should have 9 years NCD, but your current company only says you have 7 years – you have lost 2 years – this is totally wrong!

ABI should make insurance company’s keep records of actual NCD.
